Trunk or Treat!

Ok, so going against all things that I was raised to believe, I submit to my husband every year and let my boys dress up for Trunk or Treat...I refuse to say they dress up for the "H" word!!!!

Here's pictures from the Trunk or Treat at the church down the road from us.

The boys with some friends from our church.

Jalyn can't take a picture without some kind of ninja pose.

I'll post more tomorrow the boys just wanted to get some pictures on the computer tonight so everyone could see the great time they had. I'll also post pictures of the house progress tomorrow, it's slow but moving along.

House Update

Here's the latest update on the house. We've got all the walls and ceilings up. I got most the walls in our bedroom painted today. I've still got the burgundy wall to finish and then the ceiling. We got a bid on painting the front room and all the ceilings today.....$1500 PLUS the paint!!!!!!! SO, we'll be renting scaffolding and painting the front room ourselves, we'll see how that goes!!!

Tomorrow Alfredo will texturize the front room and ceiling.

So far this has been the hardest part of this process, ok probably not the hardest part but it definitely ranks up at the top.....our house is filled with mosquito's!!! The workers come in and out all day long and mosquito's are awful right now so some have made our home their home!!!

This is a mosquito bite I got on my eyelid while in the kitchen this morning!!!!! During the day I spray us down with Deet but at night I can't sleep b/c the smell keeps me up so I'm going to try some essential oils that Lindsey recommended.
Tomorrow I'm going to start putting primer on all the ceilings and then paint them. Jonathan's off in a few weekends so that's when we'll tackle the front room. I've got the carpet guy lined up to measure on Wednesday and then the wait is 3 weeks for the carpet to come in and get installed. I'm hoping we can be on our way to some sense of normalcy by Thanksgiving!!! Stay tuned for more updates!!!

Tournament Time!

Yesterday was our local taekwondo tournament. It was put on by our school and Global Taekwondo. Jon Michael had a great time competing.

Jon Michael doing his pattern.

I kept laughing so hard b/c Jon Michael had to keep chasing his opponent around the ring....so funny!!!

Jon Michaels bracket was age 6-11...this boy is almost as big as the black belt!

But Jon Michael tried to stay in there with him, he did pretty good. It was pretty neat to see how the older boy could predict and analyze his opponent.

Kaleb swept their bracket in patterns and sparring. Jon Michael got silver in sparring.
So cool seeing the boys good sportsmanship.

His Knife Hand break.

This was just super cute to watch little ones sparring...and they were going after each other!

I know you can't see him, they kept moving to fast for my camera, but the black belt in the middle came all the way from Peru to compete and help with the tournament...very cool.
Like I said Jon Michael had a great time and I'm so glad he enjoys competing with other kids.

Papa, This Ones For You!

Yesterday walking home from taking Jon Michael to school Jalyn looked up at me and said, "Can you take a picture of me doing a knife hand and a really scary face so Papa can see it?" What was I supposed to say?!?!

So, Papa, this ones for you!!! Hope you enjoy!

Happy, Happy....Sad!

Ok, so Jalyn was having a pretty great day today and then it all went wrong....TERRIBLY WRONG!!!

Enjoying the weather and stick fighting.

He's been asking for days to make cupcakes so I thought we'd make them up and then take them with us to bible study tonight. He wanted a picture so everyone could see him being a big boy.

I literally had turned around to sit the camera down and this is what I turned back around to!!!!!

He kept insisting that I wasn't supposed to take a picture of this! You missed the huge open mouth sobs!

"Just Another Monday"

Jonathan is always off on Monday so its really like a Saturday to us....well not to Jon Michael and I b/c we still have to get up early and get ready for school, etc.... BUT it is the day we watch movies or run errands or just be lazy. This was today, so cute watching Jalyn and his Daddy together.

The guys watching a martial arts movie...

The guys watching Indiana Jones...

Here's just a few pictures of the progress on the house...you might have already seen these, I forget what I've already posted sometimes. Mud and tape, then texturing is next. Then the work starts for us, paint, carpet, and trim work. Luckily a guy in our small group at church is a carpenter so he said he could do the window sill in our bedroom, we could've tried ourselves but a professional will be much faster and one less thing we'll have to stress about!

"Cooking King"

Jon Michael loves to cook and yesterday I let him make his own eggs.....after I put them in the pan and turned on the stove...I didn't get a picture of him after he accidently burnt his finger! He was pretty proud of himself.

"Give A Kid Some Shingles...."

Here's a few pictures from this week.....

What do they say? Kids have more fun with the box than with whats inside? Apparently Jalyn has more fun with the shingles that came off our house than with the toys in our house!

The weather has been cool enough in the mornings that I leave the back door open for Jalyn to play outside while I'm cleaning the kitchen....this is what I caught him doing, the pictures are kinda grainy b/c I took them thru the screened window so he wouldn't see me.

So cute, huh?!?! I've always impressed with how their minds work when they're playing....unconventional toys are the best.

Howdy!

I've just got some random pictures to post....excuse the mess in EVERY picture...I've kinda given up on cleaning the "apartment"/living room, really all I accomplish when I "clean" is moving things from one place to another.....so deal with the mess!!!!!!!!!
The sheetrock is almost finished, then taping and all that goes with that, then paint and carpet and hanging the lights back up etc.....then new baseboards and some window sills. We'll be doing the baseboards, painting, and hanging lights to save money so that everything can get done.
I'll take more pictures of the progress on the house and post in the next couple of days.
Daddy playing barrel of monkeys and Jalyn building his car.

I'm telling you the life of this 4 year old is ROUGH!!!!!

One of his many daily performances...the workers enjoy what he's going to be each day they show up to work!

This is this afternoon, while the workers are banging nails into sheetrock in the frontroom....he's adapted very well to all the "damage", as he calls it!

Ok, so stay tuned for an update on the house in the next couple of days. I'm fixing to be pricing carpet and paint so it'll be a busy next few days.

"Hectic House"

Well, we've started getting repairs done on the house. The boys are back in their room, we're in the guest room and all of our bedroom furniture is in our bathroom. Jonathan's closet is ok, if we can get into it but my closet is going to be redone so we're basically living out of the living room and kitchen right now. The boys go stir crazy when they are both home b/c they have to stay in the living room and kitchen b/c there is so much sheetrock junk and insulation and dirt floating thru the rest of the house.

Just a small glimpse of life for us right now....our closet is the loveseat, all the front room toys are in the living room and in this picture poor Samson is Jalyns form of entertainment for the moment!

This is the day they took all the sheetrock off the ceiling. They bagged up the insulation but there's still tons of it floating down from the rafters throughout the day and any work they do on the roof sends splinters of wood and shingle grit down to the floor....I've given up on cleaning it all up until we're done with the process.

"Crazy Cousins!"

Aunt Tab had a conference here in Houston a week ago so she brought Kiersten down so the cousins could spend some fun time together.

We're never able to go to Kierstens birthday parties b/c they live in Oklahoma so we took her to The Rainforest Cafe in Katy Mills Mall for a belated birthday present. Originally we were supposed to go to Galveston and The Rainforest Cafe there on the Seawall....BUT, Ike took care of those plans for us!

Her and Jon Michael are missing the same teeth.

Watching all the animals come alive.

"VOLCANO!!!!!"

Happy Birthday Time

So cute walking thru the mall together

Looking at the fish at Bass Pro Shop

Eating popsicles...a real treat b/c we hadn't had a freezer for a week!

Last night together...slumber party on the floor.
